2. What Hosting Doesn’t Include
Hosting does not include updates to the website application itself. For example, updates to WordPress core, plugins, or themes.
This is because applying these updates safely requires testing and review to avoid introducing errors or downtime. Every site is different, and updates can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
3. Maintenance Plans
For clients who want peace of mind, we offer optional Maintenance Plans.
These can include:
- Scheduled updates to WordPress, plugins, and themes
- Staging and testing to make sure updates don’t break anything
- Fixes for any issues caused by updates
- Reports on your site’s update and security status
Maintenance Plans are the best way to ensure your site remains on supported versions and continues to meet standards such as Cyber Essentials.
4. Version Monitoring
Even if you’re not on a maintenance plan, we can still keep an eye on things.
We use monitoring tools to track WordPress and plugin versions across the sites we host.
However, we won’t apply updates unless requested or covered by a maintenance plan.
5. Compliance & Security Standards
Some organisations (particularly those with Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 requirements) must keep all software within supported versions.
If your organisation has these obligations, please ensure you’re on a maintenance plan so that we can manage this proactively. Ethical Pixels are not responsible for maintaining standards your organisation has subscribed to unless by prior agreement.
